The NutcrackerDecember 20-21, 2014
December 20-21, 2014
We are delighted to once again welcome back to Wilmington Michele Wiles as the Sugarplum Fairy, artistic director/founder of Ballet Next, Principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre, and Zachary Catazaro as Cavalier, Soloist with New York City Ballet. The Metropolitan Ballet Company and the Voloshky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble will perform with the students of Wilmington Ballet. As always, the ballet will be performed with a full orchestra provided by the Wilmington Ballet Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Maestro Allan R. Scott.
This holiday season, you and your loved ones will be treated to something special, a performance that lifts your holiday spirit, and a wondrous experience that evokes joy and happiness for kids of all ages. An annual Wilmington tradition since 1967, the Wilmington Ballet Academy of the Dance’s production of the nutcracker follows the story of young Clara on Christmas night as she is tangled in a battle between the brave and valiant Nutcracker and the fierce Mouse King. Join Clara as she travels through the Land of Sweets, where Snowflakes become dancing maidens and Hot Chocolate, Mandarin Tea, Arabian Coffee, Marzipan and Mother Ginger and her children perform for Clara’s entertainment. With the breathtakingly beautiful dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, Clara’s fairytale adventure concludes as she awakens next morning under the Christmas tree.
Make the Nutcracker at the DuPont Theatre a part of your family’s holiday tradition and experience the magic of this beautiful Christmas story.
