Tracy Morgan: EXCUSE MY FRENCH

Who is Tracy Morgan? The wildly unpredictable comic who rocketed to fame on Saturday Night Live? The Emmy-nominated actor behind the sly and ingenious character Tracy Jordan on NBC’s award-winning hit sitcom 30 Rock, whose turbulent personal life often mirrors that of his fictional alter ego? Is he Chico Divine, the life of the party–any party, anytime, anywhere, getting ladies pregnant everywhere he goes? Or is he a soulful, tender family man who emerged from a hardscrabble ghetto upbringing and against all odds achieved superstardom, raised a solid family, prevailed over a collection of lethal bad habits, and is still ascending new heights and coming into his own? The answer is: Tracy Morgan is all that. And then some.

When he was just a boy living in the Coney Island projects, being funny was about survival. With the right snap, Tracy could shut down the playground bullies who beat up on him and his physically disabled older brother. And with a wild enough prank, he could exact revenge on whoever stole his Pumas at the community pool. Later, being funny was about escape–from the untouchable sadness of his father’s death, from the desperation of the drug dealer’s trade, from the life and death battles waged on the streets of the South Bronx in the age of crack. But these days being funny is about living his dream–a dream born in the comedy clubs of Harlem and realized on shows like Martin and Saturday Night Live, and in movies like The Longest Yard and Half-Baked.

As a stand-up comic best known for his work on NBC’s “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live,” Tracy Morgan was first introduced to television audiences in his role as “Hustleman” on the hit comedy series “Martin.” He went on to join SNL in 1996 where he appeared for seven seasons and created such memorable characters as “Astronaut Jones” and “Brian Fellows.” After leaving SNL, Morgan went on to star in his own comedy series “The Tracy Morgan Show” and voiced “Spoonie Luv” on Comedy Central’s “Crank Yankers.”

Currently starring on NBC’s Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning “30 Rock,” Morgan appears opposite Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin as “Tracy Jordan,” the unpredictable star of Lemon’s (Fey) hit variety show, “TGS with Tracy Jordan.” In 2009 Morgan received his first Emmy Nomination for this role in the Supporting Actor category; in the past five years he has also been nominated for the Supporting Actor NAACP Image Award.

Morgan made his animation debut in Jerry Bruckheimer’s “G-Force” with the character “Blaster,” one of the highly trained secret agent guinea pigs dispatched to save the world. The film opened number one in US box offices and was celebrated by audiences worldwide. In 2010, Morgan starred in “Death at a Funeral,” a remake of the 2007 British movie of the same name, also featuring Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, and Danny Glover. In 2011, Morgan also headlined the “New York Comedy Festival” which featured comedians such as Bill Maher, Andy Samberg, and Patton Oswalt, among others.

Tracy’s brutal honesty and trademark take-no-prisoners humor, keep audiences howling for more and seals his place as one of the most compelling and defining comedians of our time.

More than fifty years ago, a show about New York City changed musical theatre forever. Now, it’s coming home to make history once again.

From the first notes to the final breath, WEST SIDE STORY is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time.
Mr. Laurents’ book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever.
The score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim — a collection of standards that includes “Tonight,” “America,” “Maria,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Somewhere” — is widely regarded as one of the best ever written. And the extraordinary, Tony-winning winning choreography by Jerome Robbins completely changed the language of Broadway dance.

Don’t miss this thrilling presentation of a matchless work of art.
